Chris Scherbarth
Chris Scherbarth is a mosaicist and ceramic artist who lives along the banks of the Yukon River, upstream from Whitehorse. She grew up on a family farm in southern Ontario where the landscape is flat and dominated by human activity. Chris' Yukon environs, by contrast, are mountainous and untamed, and an unending source of visual inspiration. Mountainscapes are a recurring theme in her artwork, particularly her larger mosaics.
Chris’ portfolio includes mosaic and tile panels, murals, one-of-a-kind hand-made tiles, and functional pieces such as mirrors, clocks and table tops. In 2004, she completed River Rhythm, a 120-square-foot scene of migrating salmon that wraps an outdoor performance stage in Whitehorse.
