Kerry Fletcher
Kerry is a graduate of the School of Craft and Design, Sheridan College, in Oakville, Ontario. Originally a professional glassblower, environmental illness changed the course of her life and brought her to the Yukon in 2002. The search for a non-toxic creative avenue led her to begin natural stone jewellry making. Spending time outside collecting smooth stones for her work connects her to the energy of the land, and each piece is a conversation between artist and place. Each design notes the origin of the stones, so the wearer can carry that sense of place with them. Many of the stones remind her of archetypal goddess shapes, and become primitive goddess pendants for her beaded strands and earrings. More than jewellry, these are a celebration of earth, faith, and life. Stones have become Kerry's great excuse to travel the Yukon with her dog Farley, searching out new places and natural treasures.
